Overview
- Similar to O-Pee-Chee for Topps, Leaf was produced as a sister set to Donruss for the Canadian market. Leaf was a standalone product from 1985 through 1988, with 1989 being a transitory year where the cards were identical, but packaging different. Starting in 1990, Leaf became the Donruss 'premium' product meant to compete with Upper Deck and eventually Topps Stadium Club & Fleer Ultra.
- Being the inaugural year of Leaf, and given the strong rookie class, 1985 are the rarest and most sought after Leaf wax boxes from this era.

- The Leaf set only contains 260 cards, compared to 660 for the base Donruss set. Therefore, the average hit rate of rookies and HOFers is higher than a traditional Donruss box.
