Overview
2004 Donruss is a 400-card set released in November, 2003. After a year in which all base cards were printed in equal quantities, the 2004 edition of Donruss went back to having short-printed base cards. The 25-card (cards #1-25) Diamond Kings, 45-card Rated Rookies (26-70), and the 30 Team Checklists (371-400) are all short-printed -- a fact that most collectors did not realize until after they opened up their first packs as this was not revealed by Donruss-Playoff in their sell sheets.
Donruss-Playoff also greatly increased the number of base set parallels and insert parallels.
There are no rookie cards in the set. In fact, Dontrelle Willis, the 2003 National League Rookie of the Year was not included.
